Walking On Thin Ice
A Sonnet on the Fragility of Relationships
The title is taken from an excellent Yoko Ono song, so I will use that to lead this piece, although it is quite raucous and vicious.

Sometimes You Feel Safe, The Path Is Solid
You make assumptions, and all is OK
You trust your surroundings ,safe on the way
All is well, all is good, you let things slip
+
But you’re not safe, you’re walking on thin ice
Any step will plunge you to freezing depths
You need to be careful, you’ll strain for breath
In dark cold waters of the lake of life
+
You need to keep care for those that you love
You need to watch for the signs and the cracks
You need to not step when the ice will then break
You need to be there , lots you must think of
You need to be there , have each others backs
You can hold hands for the next steps you’ll take
