Walking After Midnight

Negative Space Challenge

Walking upon a garden path

After the midnight hour

Billowing clouds promise

A misty, rainy night

Darkness completely descends

An unexpected total blindness

Stumbling along as if blindfolded

Reaching out by faith and sense

Feeling your way by memory

The road ahead hidden in blackness

Largely dilated pupils

Attempting to see the trail ahead

Caught fully unprepared

No torch, no fire

Came out to commune

Your old friend appears instead

Darkness reigns the hour

Come near, sit a spell, and listen to tales of old as I sit and rock by my fire. I'll serve you some cocoa and cookies as I tell you of the time long gone by when your Greats-greats once lived.
