Untouchable Love
A Poetic Reflection on Longing and Yearning
In the desire to touch you,
Oh, how bitter these seasons of restraint!
Moments spent sitting before you,
Yet I know touching you won't be granted.
Many fantasies of my hands' caress,
The fragrance of your touch lingers in every vein,
But perhaps upon touching you,
Clouds would rain upon the earth of my burning heart.
Yet, beloved, I cannot touch you!
Though my words reside in your thoughts, your dreams touched,
I cannot touch you,
For I love you more than love itself.
I fear, lest upon touching, you turn to stone,
The one adorned with the colors of butterflies,
The one whom I write of whenever flowers are written.
How could I dare to touch this form and spend my life,
Creating a statue of stone in my dreams?
I love you more than love itself,
Even if touching you may shatter me into pieces.
Listen, my beloved!
Even if these seasons of restraint are harsh upon my soul,
I cannot touch you.
