Unspoken Truth

The depths are where it hides.

I never go down there.

I presume it's neat and tidy,

It's the only truth to dare

Tread the empty halls

Where no light leaves a glare.

The rest of my candor

Is proudly on display.

I speak and show with honesty

Sincerity is my pay.

You'd guess my secret verity

If unforbidden and with say.

Another day has lapsed

The veracity is still hidden.

I will likely think about it

But the door will remain unopened.

I put that room's key inside of items

I hope will soon be forgotten.

Years from now, maybe

I'll use the skeleton key

I'll be a stronger, different woman

As I venture down to see

If all that was, is still living

Or if that was a faded former version of me.
