Unicorns

A poem

Are unicorns really gone?

Or did we just stop believing?

Perhaps the wild horses

that run across the lands

are really unicorns.

Hidden horns,

for fear of butchering their magic.

The world has grown dark,

So they had to hide their light.

What if unicorns really did exist once,

but hid their colors for fear

of exposure

and exploitation.

The world has grown selfish,

too self absorbed to let them just be free.

It’s all about the money,

the fame they could gain,

with a unicorn at their reins.

Unicorns are out there,

waiting for the smoke clouds to subside.

They’re waiting for a world of hope,

For us to truly open our eyes.
