Twister of Terror

a glimpse of anxiety

Suddenly, my heartbeat quickens.

Sweat seeps slowly from the pores of my palms.

So it begins again.

Spine-chilling intrusive thoughts start to form,

spiraling uncontrollaby into terrifying tornados.

Shocking images follow cruel ideations.

Slowly, tears well in each eye.

Spastic breaths exit through dry lips.

Scared does not begin to cover the emotion coursing my body.

Sobbing and shuddering, sobbing and shuddering.

Screaming for help with no sound.

Suddenly the room is spinning,

spinning,

spinning,

spinning

. . . . . .

Strong hands grip my shoulders.

"Slow, deep breaths."

Softly, he coaxes me back to reality.

Sweetly, his lips breath new life against mine.

Simple thoughts beging to overtake the tornados.

Sunshine seems to fill my soul.

Sound arms embrace me, holding the broken pieces together.

Sadness is replaced with serenity, fear replaced with safety.

Secure, I fall into the only person that grounds the twisters of terror raging in my mind.
