From vantage high above I see
Nature’s unnatural clemency
For although we are doomed to die
It’s this which makes us touch the sky
x
The drive to be, create and learn
To understand and so discern
The good, the true, the beautiful
And serve these three, so dutiful
x
That we might see themselves in us
And be perfection just as thus
Describes a holy trinity
An instance of divinity
x
The pieces of the paragon
The mastered matter marathon
A final state for which we wait
An elegance imposed by fate
x
To know the truth of life and death
Endows one’s will in every breath
For what you are and what you do
Is true only if so are you

Final Call
She flings her arms around my neck and squeezes me like she’s never going to let me go. My head spins as her lips brush against my cheek. She must be able to feel my heart thumping in my chest. I shuffle backwards and ram my hands into my coat pockets, watching her reach down and heave the rucksack across her shoulders.
