Trophy Wife
My poem for Randy Baker's Prompted #1 Challenge
This poem is for Randy Baker's Challenge which you can read about here:
Words that need to be included for the challenge to be met (6 of these only but can be 7):
Whisper
Serenade
Cascade
Velvet
Ethereal
Enigma
Labyrinth
***
You say, "I've placed you on a plinth";
A pedestal I don't deserve.
I'm lost in a labyrinth
Of the feelings you reserve
Just for me.
You say.
But I am not so sure.
I'm not Venus,
(Just a girl)
But I am fly-trapped.
*
You whisper to me sweetness
That I can barely taste;
A serenade of saccharine,
Sugar syrupy cascade.
I want to believe the velvet
That ripples from your mouth
But I don't know the code:
I need Enigma to work you out.
Maybe.
I don't know.
I want to believe.
*
I want to be a woman,
A partner and a wife.
I'm not a muse, a plan,
A stimulation device.
I'm real! Feel me!
Solid, true and present.
Not a concept, an ethereal being
But me.
See me, love me,
Delight in me.
Not what you think I am
To you.
