Tree roots are landmines

Their shimmering waving shadows

A signal to the enemy

Their leaves

A shelter terrorist birds

Their fruits pin bombs

And their flowers smell rebellion

This is a security risk Go cut down the trees.

#CondemnTreeCuttingInSindhUniversity

Note: This prose poem is written in reaction to the orders of the University of Sindh Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan, to chop and cut the trees. They consider that the trees pose a security risk. This is a sheer anti-environment decision and a violation of international environmental laws. These orders are being condemned by the Sindhi intelligentsia. Despite that, the administration of the University of Sindh is insistent on implementing its orders.
