Gentle hands
And long hours.
Careful aim, in the ivy tower.
Inspiration is the kindling.
Creativity, the spark.
Persistence is the quality that keeps it alight in the dark.
Though marked by pain,
And riddled with struggles,
Failures are what keep a scientist humble.
So come,
Follow me,
Down this path of discovery.
Along the way,
We'll find hope and wonder,
Worth all of the hard work and lack of slumber.
I carry my flame
With skill and pride,
In hopes that others may enjoy the ride.

An Ode to my First Supporter
I’ve been working on my PhD in Biomedical Sciences for the past 3 and a half years. It’s been some of the most rewarding and tumultuous years of my life. I have been working in the lab of my dreams on neuromuscular degenerative diseases. The scientists and friends I’ve made along the way have continued to motivate me and support me through all of life’s hardballs, but they weren’t my first support group. My family and community from northern Maine were the first to develop my wonder and work ethic which culminated into my dream of becoming a scientist. This is where the tumultuous part comes in. In the last year, I lost 3 grandparents. In February of 2020, I lost my older brother to a freak flu that led to sepsis and brain damage. I have also lost several loved ones from my community who nurtured me and allowed me to grow.

The Voyeur's Incandescent Reasoning
The woman sat nonplussed, in the Waiting Room. In a sort of daze, looking straight ahead patiently. She had already had three small breakfast's that morning and a nip of sherry, this was not unusual she would typically wait until an hour after she took her anti-depressant and was her morning routine. She was merely following instructions she assured herself, shifted slightly in her seat and feeling a little heart burn thought, maybe she should skip lunch. Dom had said to have the task done this week. She was well used to his methods and desired to get this over and done with soon. She glanced at her watch, smiled weakly at the Receptionist who was there for a moment and then gone.
