If I could speak to my generation

On any given day

Based on my experiences

These are some words that I would say

Be quick to listen and slow to speak

Don't be quick to entertain anger

Treat your family with respect

It will take you very far

Don’t let other people define you

They don't know who you are

They don't see the many victories

or the often hidden scar

Seek to constantly improve yourself

Be the very best that you can be

Don’t believe everything on social media

There's so much that you don't see

Take good care of your body

It’s the only one you have

Develop a healthy relationship with food

Don’t eat too much or starve

Be careful with your company

Bad friends can wreck your life

Don’t be quick to take offence

Never take pleasure in strife

Be careful the words that you say

They go a long way to influence

They can cause joy or sorrow

That is subtle or immense

Always ask for clarification

If you don't understand

Never jump to conclusions

So things don't get out of hand

Don't judge other people

Because they're not like you

Don't be quick to criticize them

Cause they don't do the things you do

Listen to your parents

Even when you don't want to

Something you should know is

They likely trying to protect you

Work hard at what you do

So that you can excel

Don't give in to procrastination

Be determined to do well

Give your time and attention

Its worth is beyond measure

Spend time with the ones that

In your heart you deeply treasure

Don't take yourself too seriously

Give good room for mistakes

Learn to forgive yourself

Be patient through heartbreaks

Be kind to every person

That you're privileged to meet

Whether in an elevator

The shopping mall or street

Don't give up on your dreams

No matter how crazy they are

Dreams are the driving force

Behind every superstar

Laughter is good medicine

A good laugh goes a long way

So watch a funny video

to lighten up your day

Take life one thing at a time

Don't try to be superman

Focus on today and now

Learn to do the best you can

Prayer is important

Always talk to God

Learn to commit little matters

No matter how strange or odd

Always encourage yourself

You can't rely on another

People have their own struggles

Don't make yourself a bother

Love God and love people

And seek to do His will

Take life one day at a time
