Underdeveloped towns and a city
Fields of crops, unwanted misogyny
She farmed in the nineteen twenties
What happened next is shrouded in mystery
She had loved many
Most saw her as a penny
Never truly struck gold
Unlike what her church had told
She had pursued romance
Perhaps it was a front for her imbalance
Never succeeded by her standard
The rest of her life meandered
Melancholy and wasted potential
Future actions would be consequential
.
Next kicking mid nineteen sixty
Rebellious and confident at sixteen
Burnt rubber
Looking tougher
Loved the scent the cocoa butter
Travelled to neighboring towns
Liked to observe hand-me-downs
Until people molded her rebellious
Turns into depressing days
Men would be scared stiff and stare
Was told complexion wasn't fair
Hole in her heart
As she departed
Off to find what she had lost
Her past would be glossed-over
Her present is labour
Her future would be savoured
.
She was a nineteen nineties teen
Go getter and extrovert supreme
In contrary auxiliary confidence
Inferior self-appreciation
Held back by traumas of the past
Her future a foretold overcast
Life looked out the windows
As relationships became a shadow
Gatekept, swept under the rug
She had talent and youth
But she had lost half her truth
In years of recovery
She had made a discovery
.
Then there is the present
Alive and in the twenty twenties
Childhood years lonesome
Honed her art out of boredom
No recollection of good friends
Videogames and illustrations
Would distract from the sad sensations
My weakness is I never made amends
For years lingered imperfection
In the mirror held a lonely reflection
.
She wondered why she felt this way
The previous had laboured worse
She pondered what to say
It was some sort of curse
The anguish and despair of her members
Eventually reached her psyche
.
It was an ugly truth
But it made sense
