the love we just made
lays crumpled on the floor
a pile of discarded clothes
in a trail from the door
soft lights and rumpled sheets
bear silent witness to our tryst
bathed in the sheen of the moment
we ride a wave of pure bliss
the fires in your eyes
they burn soft and slow
silently we hold each other
as they ignite this afterglow
the fires in our hearts
the flames that we both know
this cool fire that burns so hot
and ignites this afterglow
we lay there in a slow dance
to a tune that only we can hear
our love hums all around us
in your eye a silent tear
we lay in the waning warmth
our hearts beat tightly in our chests
we melt into each other slowly
between every sated breath

Very visceral! I think you need another band to sing your love songs then :) I’m sure this poem will have its unique power with the music, but even without it it’s so good!
