They Long, But Never Meet

Knowing they’re out there can still bring you joy even if you can’t be together.

Their lives take two different paths

That never cross.

They will live in their own worlds

Not knowing that these worlds

Do not belong to them alone.

There will always be something,

Or someone,

Missing from their lives

That stop them from

Truly living.

They long, but never meet.

They drown in endless tears

For years to come

Without ever realizing

That they’ve indeed shared

A space for the two of them.

They may have passed

Each other once

Or a million times before.

Who knows?

Perhaps it is better

To believe that they

Are doing well

For themselves

And to continue living

With this happy thought.
