They Know It's Spring

When will spring be here?

The buds on the maple and oaks surely know.

When will the sunshine return where we long for days to be spent outside?

The sprouting daffodils and lilies know for certain.

Where is the warm sunshine, the refreshing breeze? How long will the cold and bleakness of winter last?

How long until the tulips and hyacinth emerge from their long sleep, longing to sprout?

To catch a breath of sunshine? To splatter our spring with their multitude of colors?

The buds on the trees know for sure, the sprouting flowers know for certain. They don't question. They don't wait.

That first ray of spring sunshine is more than enough. They trust spring is here. That they can safely emerge once again, safe from winter's frost and happy to sprout again.
