"there are no tears"

~a reflection on division~

by randy jellison-knock

there are no tears

that well dried up years ago

& no one hears the quiet fears

which crush the soul

leaving broken & unholy

there are no hands

to do the work or pen the songs

or join along with any other

brother, sister, father, mother

or find its end in any friend

no comfort bending

there is no voice

to tell the world we have a choice

to take a different path

to do the math & come together

"i cannot speak"

~a reflection on silence~

by randy jellison-knock

i cannot speak

i said with a hint of irony

for words that ring true

would cut & wound

& i would not hurt another

& words without touch

fall hollow & untrue to the ground

have i said too much

let me be silent & fade into the back

sad poetry
