Then and Now

Original Poem

Then and Now

I wish I could go back to the days,

When all I'd do is laugh and play.

Not a care in the world, so young and naive,

When I did not know of murderers and thieves,

Or the twisted politics that rule our lands,

Just hunting for treasure in the golden sands.

I miss the nights of peaceful sleep,

Now I fall to bed in a weakened heap.

Mind full of fake news, bills, and tax,

Good grace and love falling through the cracks.

Even charity organisation's corrupt.

And the changes of law are so abrupt.

Ice melting, animals going extinct,

Still very few stop and think,

Of this beautiful gift we have destroyed,

Don't you think God would be annoyed?
