The changing colors of rose-colored glasses

With beauty and grace,

The world put a smile on her face.

The rain kissed her cheeks,

And the wind whispered secrets,

She would giggle to the trees,

And let the clouds give her dreams.

The ocean filled her spirit,

And the mountains,

They reminded her to believe in hearts of gold.

The sun said, "Good Morning,"

And the moon, "Good Night."

When she could not sleep,

It was the stars she would seek.

The trees gave her breath,

And the plants gave her life.

The world loved her first.

Even as the blue became black,

And the yellow buzzing was ceasing.

The green growing brown,

And all the creatures staining red, numbers rapidly decreasing.

What was meant to be white,

Just melting away...

The earth cried and shone a rainbow,

To give her one more good day.

It was the world that gave her everything,

Asking nothing in return.

It took a long while,

But as the time passed,

She fell in love with the earth,

as the earth was fading fast.

Falling too deeply,

She carried a weight on her shoulders,

That cracked even the strongest of boulders.

The love kept growing,

As she began to rot.

Everything she had, she gave back to the Earth.

Until finally, all she had was her body buried deep in the dirt.

She knew the world was beautiful,

But now she feels it too.

The world is dying,

Just not as quickly as you.
