“The Truth of the Tradewinds”

The black warmth extends beyond sight,

Bathed in Luna’s cold, silver light.

Soul’s vision unhindered by night…

My own loneliness vigilant,

As it has been, my world’s silent.

From the far south blows the warm wind,

Secrets brought from the far world’s end,

Things seen, never to see again...

Whisper the dreams of dead sailors,

Their sad journeys chained by thunder.

The Sun’s ascension blinds my thoughts,

Finding, losing, be what is sought…

Search for an end to battles fought!

Waves rolling, breaking on the shore,

A time to remember, no more…

The dreamer slowly awakens,

The elusive, sweet dream not caught,

Grains of sand through life's would-have-beens.

Dolphins course, swimming sleek and fast,

Tide's going out, the die is cast...

The brief night a mere glimpse of truth.

And yet still the warm south wind blows,

Bringing un-age’d golden youth.

Waves tumble, crash, a blue-green roar,

Know what the future holds in store.

Gaze on the promise of the day…

A sail crosses the horizon!

The billowed sails making its way,

Sleek lady moves with gentle force,

Her crew working to hold the course…

Here or there, where I cannot say...

A reminder of all I have,

This day, every day, always.
