A poem 2 ways

We can't stay here forever,
we both know—
the bed dips beneath my weight as I sit upright near you,
my skirt's zipper zings,
push of buttons through holes, one by one,
your hand on my back as I stand next to the bed.
A kiss, sweet and bittersweet—
my last walk through this door.

I like how the different readings seem to be one before the act, and one after. Wistful and wanting, the simple words in this mean the message comes through clearer. I liked “push of buttons through holes, one by one” as a way to visualise the action of dressing, or undressing! Nicely done 👏
Such a beautiful poem!
