The stupidest thing I can think of
Is hurting someone you love
Because you’re afraid of change
Because you’re afraid to feel the bad things
Because you’re afraid if you don’t do everything right
They won’t love you anymore
And I do it so often that sorry isn’t a word
It’s a curse
Being stubborn as stone will grind us both to dust
I have not earned this pride
I am a wounded animal
Armored in scars
Believing survival is all that is left
Afraid to trust
So I assume the worst
