The Son Also Rises

Ever present

I stood amazed and held you in my arms.

Your baby's breath inhaled; my mind transformed.

Sixty seconds née, to protect from harm.

Once two, now three, the pillars of our home.

⚜️

Sweet innocence of life you apt portrayed

in measured growth you glorified my years.

Untarnished in your work, in school and play,

pride reserved, a peacocked heart, cavalier.

⚜️

The world your oyster, a pearl, your bright coin.

Honored, praised, a golden plaque, your crown.

Parades of joy and celebration joined.

Respected and renowned throughout the town.

⚜️

September emanated, Fall in the air.

You rode your cycle; the wind whipped your face.

Invincible, your heartbeat unaware,

Caliban, the malfeasant, ceased your days.

⚜️

Funerals like birth are appointed a time.

No parade, a dirge, we marched to your grave,

With devastated hearts, shocked at the crime

Seven thousand six hundred days, you gave.

⚜️

Loss is forever; new joys are voided .

Love's not an island; it is the whole globe.

Hearts amended; happiness suspended.

Each breath generates another by rote.

⚜️

The son also rises within my mind .

A choice to live now, the present attended.

You, ever-present, encourage me to find,

Joy, love, and peace, to live life contented.
