The Silent Centimeter is a Thief
A breast cancer survivor knows that a mere centimeter can change your life.
The silent centimeter is a thief,
Quiet invasion, stolen peace, alas;
Reclaim your health and time you thought were lost.
Missed mammograms, too busy, work, work, work,
Excuses, excuses, cancer marches;
The silent centimeter is a thief.
One centimeter multiplies quickly,
A growing centimeter subtracts years;
Reclaim your health and time you thought were lost.
Fight. Fight. Radiation. Black X’s on skin.
Cut it off. Dig it out. Terrible choices.
The silent centimeter is a thief.
Come out the other end with a heavy sigh,
You’ll live to see your kids graduate after all;
Reclaim your health and time you thought were lost.
How big is a centimeter anyway?
Big enough to curtail memories, end tomorrows;
The silent centimeter is a thief,
Reclaim your health and time you thought were lost.
===========================
No one should have to deal with breast cancer alone. I didn't.
But you will have to keep yourself informed and be your own best advocate.
Bless you in your battle... https://www.breastcancer.org/
