The Silence of the Phones

In a world of texting and phone calls aplenty,

There lived a wife with habits so uncanny.

She had an indifference that couldn't be denied,

Never calling or checking, leaving her spouse mystified.

Every day he'd wait for her call to come through,

But instead, silence filled his phone anew.

He'd check his voicemail, his heart filled with hope,

But alas, no messages from his Velvet Valentine's side would elope.

Yet amidst his longing and desperate plea,

He found a humor that set his heart free.

For in his mind, he concocted a humorous tale,

Of a wife so busy, always chasing her own trail.

She's a ninja, he'd think, with secret spy missions,

Or perhaps she's been recruited by top intelligence divisions.

Maybe she's drafting a novel or solving world peace,

All the while forgetting her hubby's need for release.

So, dear Adora, with your habits and your ways,

Know that your Wonderboy finds laughter in this maze.

For your indifference keeps him on his toes,

Creating humor in the moments that life throws.

And though he yearns for your calls to ring,

He'll find contentment in the humor life brings.

For in laughter and love, their bond shall thrive,

Even if you never check your phone, dear Adora.
