there he was -

on the rooftop

in his

big shiny boots

just

doing his job

delivering

the loot

not unlike past

Christmas's

both

vintage and hip

with the names of the

good and bad

boys and girls

on his lips

dangling like the tinsel

off the family tree

uplifting our spirits

quite magically

each year you can

find him

where his story

first started

sliding down the chimney

full of whim

and good hearted

gifting what he made

for the weak

and downtrodden

reminding

everybody not one

soul would be

forgotten

it’s been said he

proclaimed

as he rode out of

sight

merry Christmas

to all

and to all a good night -

but reindeer are restless

and aren’t

easy to train

he hollered under his breath

something kind of profane

as the deer’s feet slipped

on ice

and started to slide

he recovered composure

and smiled a smile so bright

merry Christmas

everyone -

be sure to enjoy the ride

now for

Pete’s sake sit down

and please

hold on tight!
