The key glints in the fading light
Its polished surface alluring, yet hollow
No matter how intricate the design
How ornate the craftsmanship
It cannot unlock the door of yesterday
__
The past is a realm unto itself
A tapestry woven with memories
Both cherished and regretted
We long to retrace our steps
To revisit those moments, frozen in time
__
But the key, no matter how beautiful
Remains powerless against the passage of days
It cannot rewind the clock, cannot undo
The choices made, the paths taken
All we can do is turn the page
__
Those who know how to do this
Who can face the future with clear eyes
They are the sober ones, the truly wise
They understand that dwelling in the past
Only serves to stifle growth, to limit possibility
__
Instead, they embrace the blank canvas
That each new day presents, ready to paint
With the vibrant hues of hope and possibility
They know that the key to unlocking
The door to tomorrow lies not in the past
__
But in the courage to turn the page
To let go of what has been, and embrace
What is yet to come. For in that act
Of moving forward, of embracing the unknown
We find the true beauty of the human experience
__
So, let the key rest, its purpose fulfilled
The door of yesterday remains closed
But the future beckons, a world of wonder
Waiting to be explored. All it takes is
The strength to turn the page
