The Place

A poem about home sweet home

A picture my buddy, Danny Garcia, took while hiking. Used with his permission.

There is a place somewhere,

I laugh and dance and sing.

There are no manners, there are no rules,

what happiness it brings.

There is a place somewhere,

winter and spring are the same.

There are no days, there are no years,

I have no gender; I have no name.

There is a place somewhere,

I am naked; I am free.

There are no rocks, there are no thorns,

just land and water and trees.

There is a place somewhere,

but I cannot stay there long.

There are no people, no enemies,

to nudge my soul along.

There is a place somewhere,

that is mine and mine alone.

There are no maps, there are no roads,

it is in me; it is my home.
