Wow, I didn't see that coming

you know what I mean,

I thought, if I saw something

they's be hideous and green

But that day, standing on the platform

just waiting for the train

A slew of bees began to swarm

calling out my name

They said, you're hiding something

that we really want to have

We know, it's not for nothing

don't shrug us off, with a fake laugh

I wiped the smile off my face

said as plainly as I could

I haven't even a single trace….

they said, from your childhood

My childhood? I said aloud

disbelief, wafting on my breath

What could it be, what have you found

are you some kind of telepath?

They quickly swarmed into a shape

like a picture in a book

A swing set placed in landscape

a see saw nestled in a nook

As quickly as I saw it,

they changed their shape again

Into a tiny child, with grit

living adventures, by Mark Twain

Building rafts, and setting sail

wooden swords and maiden's fair

Finding secrets, behind the veil

abandoned treasures, none compared

That's when what they wanted - hit me

I knew exactly why they'd come

For humanities, imagination key

to forge the mysteries, still undone

As I turned to face them,

a swarming smile, soon appeared

I'd pulled it out, like ol' Tom thumb

I knew the reason they were here

I said, I will help you find your own

it's hidden there, inside

They swarmed and shaped a cornerstone

where imagination was the prize

My extraterrestrial experience

Not a blinding, probing thing

Just a close encounter happenstance

with some intergalactic bees 🐝

Ouch. I hope you are feeling better. Alien bees. They do look like evil little aliens. This was so funny.

  • Hope you're doing well Kelli. You've been MIA for some time. Loved your poem!
