The Moon Stone Ring
For My Muse

Introduction
A magical villanelle inspired by conversations with my Muse.
The music is "The Whole of The Moon" by The Waterboys. I particularly love the opening verse:
"I pictured a rainbow
You held it in your hands
I had flashes
But you saw the plan
I wandered out in the world for years
While you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon
The whole of the moon"
Written by Mike Scott, itβs a love song of sorts to somebody exceptionally talented, who seems to excel in everything they try. The subject of the song has been hotly debated, but the official line is that the subject is a composite of several people.
The whole song shows the personβs admiration for his love, which he sees as perfect and true. His constant allusions to divinity or fantasy praise the lover in a symbolic way, portraying her as divine, almost unable to be with a mortal like him. A true masterpiece.
