The Mask I Wear
The Secret I bear
After trumpets blared,
And celebrations flared,
I sit in a chair,
Silent in my despair.
The mask I must wear,
And the secret I bear.
With longing, I stare
To breathe that fresh air,
Make the world aware,
Of the secret I bear.
However, I’m scared.
Which is why I don’t dare.
If I were to share,
Relationships would tear.
Brake beyond repair.
Offering me a prayer,
And a questionnaire,
They’d forget I’m their heir.
To avoid their glare,
I pretend to be square,
My feelings impaired,
To live life so unfair,
Hoping to be spared
Being trapped in their lair.
But one day I swear,
To openly declare,
The secret I bear.
As long as you are there,
With that love so rare,
My heart caught in a snare.
Blessed in our affair
Your words are full of care,
Nothing can compare,
To your hands in my hair.
My secret laid bare,
Remove the mask I wear.
