A new face in the modern neon light

The brown eyes covered in a deep sorrow

This unkind mirror image can’t be right

*

Way too much whisky during the last night

At a time where the feeling starts to grow

A new face in the modern neon light

*

Just a man who got too tired to fight

Knocked out by cupid’s misguided arrow

This unkind mirror image can’t be right

*

A promise of love hovering so bright

Aimed by fate and shot from a broken bow

A new face in this modern neon light

*

A misfortune at the very first sight

Shattered cuts of a bleeding heart to flow

This unkind mirror image can’t be right

*

Something had gone wrong in its fateful flight

Created another heartbroken show

A new face in this modern neon light

This unkind mirror image can’t be right

heartbreak

"Created another heartbroken show". That line hit me so hard. Your Villanelle was so poignant and emotional. I loved it!
