The Keys to the Kingdom
Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.
Would you have joy or would you have grievances?
Would you curse or would you love?
Would you look at this world through the eyes of fear
Or would you look to the Lord above?
----
Would you see the weeds betwixt the lilies of the field
And not see the flowers bloom?
Would you believe in the smallness of your mortal frame
Or let your spirit fill the room?
----
Would you see the gathering of the thunderclouds
And not the brilliant sun behind?
Would you look upon the beauty of the world
Or let fantasies cloud your mind?
----
Would you feel the wetness of the driving rain
And ignore the life it brings?
Would you feel the terror in the raven’s claws
And not hear the song it sings?
----
Would you look For God in gold and pretty jewels
In fame and other vain pursuits?
Would you stoop to using lies to get ahead
Or would you seek the truth?
----
The true keys to the kingdom friend
Where the only real happiness does lie
Is to look at the world only with your love
And see the light in your brothers’ eyes
