The Hermit Sage
Flips through page after dusty page
He searches the forest green
For information he can glean
Decades of prolonged study
Have left him old and ruddy
He searches for the mysteries of life
Of which he believes the world is rife
Some thought him mad
While others to be rid of him they were glad
A dreadful reputation he amassed
As the years passed
But rumors can be misleading
When all that’s really needed is a face-to-face meeting
As his trove of knowledge continued to grow
His physical abilities started to slow
Until he could move no more
And his existence faded into lore
