The Guardian of the Skeletons

Guardian of the Skeletons

It's ironic the things we keep.

The things others hope we will bury deep in an abyss of darkness where

words should never speak of their happening, regardless that those words

are steeped in truth.

Rather, they use fear, anger, threats, or perhaps at one time love, kindness,

and promises of "our future, a better future", to silence that bloody truth

floating in that dark abyss, locking the skeletons in the closet as one

watches horrified at the inhumanity.

Yet, either so terrified or so believing so loved one stands in silence.

One allows the truth to un-form in the abyss,

one buries the key to the closet.

One allows that bloody truth to unravel because it's 'easier' than the

absolute rage one will face,

the damage re-forming those words and stating the truth out of the abyss

will result in,

and digging up the key to the closet and opening the door will release.

Yet the question becomes whose soul is one to save? Oneself?

Or that which one is the guardian of all their skeletons?

The release of the skeletons will cause collateral damage beyond repair to

many, many lives.

The truth will not save them in the immediate future, it will be devastating.

The truth may be expounded with horrifying consequences for the

guardian.

Yet the guardian is not responsible for the deeds and knows history will

only repeat itself if the truth is not revealed.

So, again, one asks, at the stake of the guardian of the skeletons own blood

whose soul is worth saving at the cost for the release of another's truths?

How many skeletons will vanish and keys buried if the guardian leaves the

truth untold and allows the abyss to consume one's soul for the sake of

another's horrific deeds left as the burden for the guardian either to bury

or act in a manner which will be viewed forever in the other's eyes as

the worst kind of betrayal?

This is, was, and always will be the threat.

Betrayal. Vengeance. Retaliation.

Though the words are drenched in truth, are skeletons of history that have

repeated itself over and over and over again.

Betrayal. Vengeance. Retaliation.

That will be the only thing the guardian of the skeletons will be accused of

and punished for.

Truth will be disregarded. Releasing others' from becoming skeletons and

preventing the repetition of history will not matter as rage will strike a

fire so intense the only thing left will be the guardian's ashes.
