What is life but a mist?

Appearing for a moment, but never stable and in control.

Hope arising, yet just as quickly diminishing away.

What is life but a wind?

Sweeping in, blowing away suddenly.

Creating a mess in our thoughts, swirling our past again and again.

What is life but a storm

Rising up simply to be beaten down by rain.

Tears mixing with the thunder of catastrophe.

What is life but a drought?

Thirsting for more but never satisfied.

Never seeing an end to the pain, the misery of broken choices.

Oh, but this is the fog of life.
