The First Child's Burden

Can I hold it together?

In a family where dreams are made,

A first child stands, with weight to bear,

Expected to succeed, to pave the way,

For siblings to follow, come what may.

Her name is whispered, with hope and pride,

The first millionaire, to be her guide,

Her siblings look up, with eyes so bright,

For her to lead, through day and night.

But little do they know, behind her smile,

A storm rages, with a troubled mind,

A distorted state, that she cannot define,

A weight that presses, with no escape in sight.

She wears a mask, to hide her pain,

And carries on, with a heavy strain,

For she knows that she must be strong,

To set an example, all day long.

Her siblings look up, with admiration true,

For the first child, who they think is new,

But she is struggling, with hidden strife,

To keep her head above, the turbulent life.

She holds it together, with a fragile thread,

And keeps her family, from the darkness ahead,

But deep inside, she's losing her way,

And the weight of expectation is here to stay.

Oh, first child, with a heart so bright,

How long can you hold on, through the endless night?

Will you find a way, to break the mold,

And let your true self, be the story to be told?

Or will you continue, to wear the mask,

And hide the truth, with a heavy task?

Only time will tell, what the future holds,

For the first child, with a weight to bear, so bold.
