Lurks in the corners of our mind

It whispers in our ears at night

Leaves us feeling lost and blind

Sometimes it's a fear of the dark

Or fear of loud noises and screams

Other times it's a fear of the unknown

A fear of our own worst dreams

But no matter what form it takes

The fear that we can't escape

Can make us feel small and weak

It's a feeling we all hate

But here's the thing that you should know

That fear can't always control us

We are stronger than we think

We can face it and we can trust

So next time fear comes knocking

Don't be afraid to open the door

Embrace it and say hello

And you'll find that you're much more

Then the fear that you can't escape

You are brave and you are strong

And with time, that fear will fade

And you'll find a way to move on
