The front entry way

Of my childhood home

Held all the memories

Of the places I’d roam

From the mud on my shoes

To the the bags on the ground

I could see my life there

But how my mother frowned

It is full of laughter

As my friends walk in

Something I should have cherished

But I didn’t realize then

Thinking of those times

I am completely grateful

That my mother never yelled

Or acted hateful

She knew how beautiful

And needed it was

That I was allowed

To act without pause

I will always look

To my childhood door

That let me me exist

With a child-like roar
