The Enchanted Forest

A Flight of Fancy

Pegasus at the X-ray Falls by M. K. Brackett (Trader) 1998

A shimmering brook

Begins its daily trek in the

Cool of the morning air.

Dew covers the ground as the

Enchanted forest awakes to

Find the

Golden sun

Has already broken through the silver clouds.

In the forest, hidden creatures begin to stir,

Jade-colored eyes peek from the underbrush.

King of the forest, the white

Lion watches as

Mystical beasts come to the brook to drink.

No man has ever seen such beauty and danger as this. With

Opal-colored mane, the

Pegasus, draws the air with angelic wings,

Quietly, with hoof dancing on sunbeams, she

Rises into the air, and fancy-free.

She soars above the silver-rimmed clouds. A

Tender, young

Unicorn with a voice like a flute,

Varied coat of satin fine, and luscious

White mane like spider’s silk, he stands knee deep in a clearing of

Xeranthemum, scarlet-hued, and

Yellow bellflowers with leaves of green as

Zebra swallowtails flit all ‘round.
