The sun shines brightly

Illuminating the moon in its glow

Inspiring the moon to shine in the darkness

Admiring each other’s beauty from a distance

A longing that won’t dissipate

Yearning that grows with each passing day

The worlds between them

Brought beauty by their existence

By Greg Rosenke on Unsplash

A love that can never be

Destined to dance forever at a distance

Wishing that for only a moment they could feel each other’s kiss

Just to be closer to her lover

The moon wanders

If only for a minute

Knowing their love will lead to disastrous consequences

The moon cold and dormant

Bringing light to the night

The sun, fiery and constantly in motion

Would engulf her in his flames in an instant

Both have their purpose

Their paths in life

Ever dependent on the other

Doomed to never feel each other’s kiss

But every star is doomed to implode

Its power, meant to be its destruction

By Kayla Farmer on Unsplash

The suns beauty meant shine as the worlds spin by

Drawing them in with its mighty power

Warming them with his glow

As the sun grows, he looms ever closer

The moon does not wander of the danger

Only that her lover draws nearer by the inch

Longing to feel his warmth

She continues her dance with him at a distance

Circling nearer

Years feel like minutes

By Aron Visuals on Unsplash

Their hearts as one as they savor every moment

Just a little bit closer she coaxes

The world crumbles to nothing but ashes in the wake of their dance

By Stephen Radford on Unsplash

Nothing matters but their love

Their purpose fulfilled

Their input to the worlds around them no longer needed

So, they dance ever closer as eternity draws to its end

Life extinguished in this corner of their galaxy

By Bryan Goff on Unsplash

As the suns light dies and shrinks out of existence

The moon loses its glow

Becomes dull in the darkness once more

The sun no longer shines

Black encompasses its place amongst the stars

But the moon still feels its pull

Drawing her nearer

For one last kiss

Painting by Dianna Hoiland

Once again, the moon does not wander of the danger

Only of her lover calling her in

So, she follows as he calls

Crossing the shadows at a great distance

His darkness overtakes her

But for once she feels his warmth against her

The darkness turns to the light of a shining felid

Her lover awaits and eternity continues once more
