The Conflict Cascade FX
And monumental altercations
Tempers flare lightning across darkened skies
that know inner workings of comprehensive destruction.
Sighs deep long,
sporadic and unpredictable as rolling thunder
cascade eerie silences from a breathing existence
waiting on cliff edges.
Every muscle tensed for crashes
we know are coming
as charges build and ions exchange
and all negotiation for calm seems forever lost.
Is science telling us that conflict is inevitable?
Such answers do not intrigue.
What matters to me is reconciliation.
A bond strengthened after discord.
More clarity and awareness about direction of travel
so that sometimes,
we can take separate cars.
More opportunities for foresight because
shouldn’t we be growing from this—as in getting better?
I have insatiable yearning for you and I
without our hidden barbs
inflicting poisonous damage and near imperceptible flinching.
No one wins
when a cyclone trail of destruction and death
appears post heated discussion,
post virulent argument,
post all-consuming combative rage.
I acknowledge that I am broken and you are tired
and we are mirrors for each other.
Craving dominance in our deficiency while
balancing desperation for the serene.
But we can step back
and wait awhile.
Having frustration
yet still having feelings
that don’t last forever.
Believing
we have faith in the ultimate.
Our future
with an end to endless fighting.

And just in case you were wondering, tips from all written pieces are direct deposited into my bank account and are valued highly, irrespective of the amount, but only if you can manage them. The joy a writer receives from being tipped is from having feelings of acknowledgment and validation. "My written voice resonated with someone!" That is what it means for me and many others. I am just as joyous when you share my work!
