Roses aren't Red

Beneath this porcelain skin

The colours of the rainbow shine through

Blue like those eyes

I used to fall into for hours

The slender fingers gripping mine

Red like that of the womb stripping itself

Like the sunset at just the right time

As the mirror shard cuts my skin

The fragments of the mirror reflecting

Both the blood pooling

And the light pulls you close

In a golden cloak and diamond eyes

There someone stands

Pyramid colours blind your eyes

How can you walk away from the light

When all it does blind and burn you

The darkness is much more forgiving

And it holds you close with boney hands

Rocks and cradles you like a child

At least here your heart is cold

Without the wonder of what’s on the other side.
