The Caves

The caves, the caves

Heed my words, don’t let the curse

Of man made caves befall your life

The caves, the caves

They belch up pride inside the mind

Of one who has invented all his strife

The caves, the caves

Hollow homes, walls like tomes

Teaching all the history long-past

The caves, the caves

Echo song, trip along

A rocky, slippery, and untouched path

The caves, the caves

They beckon, and I reckon

Their siren calls are irresistible

The caves, the caves

Their twisted halls and waterfalls

Create crises ever-existential

The caves, the caves

My favorite hidey-hole, take a stroll

Fathom the end of every long-lost soul

The caves, the caves

Forget their lives, wild rides

To rabbit-hole paradise is the goal

The caves, the caves

Blank minds like melon rinds

Splattered on the sterile, pristine floor

The caves, the caves

Discard after use, cyclical abuse

We’ll hear the voice of innocents no more

The caves, the caves

Haunted habitat, drippings go ‘pit-pat’

No safety in the mouths of Hell

The caves, the caves

Dark jaws with stalactites and stalagmites

If only their five lives had gone so well.
