The Breakfast Compromise: Pancakes or Waffles?
Love in Syrup and Sacrifice

Oh darling, you love waffles crisp,
With golden grids so fine,
While pancakes make my heart do flips,
All fluffy and divine.
_ _ _
You crave the crunch, the syrup pools,
A masterpiece so neat,
But I prefer my buttered stacks,
All warm and soft and sweet.
_ _ _
At breakfast time, the battle starts,
The stakes are high, we know,
Will iron press or batter rise?
Decide—before we go!
_ _ _
Yet love’s not built on rigid dough,
Nor syrup’s golden streams,
But giving up the perfect bite,
For harmony and dreams.
_ _ _
So here I sit, fork in my hand,
My waffle dreams on pause,
Because, my love, you wanted cakes—
And love defies all laws.
_ _ _
But mark my words, my sweet, my dear,
I’ll yield without a fight,
Yet next time, love, the waffle’s mine—
You will have one bite!
