The Blue Forest
The forest is dark and damp
drenched in a ghostly shade of blue
as I silently creep closer
when a bridge comes into view
It taunts me with the breath of fear
as I contemplate my move
a hushness fills the tangled air
waiting for my doom
Dare I cross into the darkness
on creaking boards and rotted rope
and stumble into the abyss of death
or a demon’s seductive stroke
A fine blue mist of voices
like a nightmarish lullaby
entwines itself about me
urging me to try
Their jagged moans pierce my back
as they sing disjointedly
like skeletons in the howling wind
calling out to me
I feel my soulless body rising
on the heat of hell’s hot fire
and close my eyes against the pain
now death’s my one desire
Beyond the bridge of death’s dark threshold
I can hear the lost souls crying
their screams of anguish claw at me
like talons of the dying
Just as the darkness smothers me
to steal my dying breath
a ghostly witch embraces me
with the eternal kiss of death
I’m trapped in an endless nightmare
lost in the smoke of satan’s hell
seeking the bridge to finally free me
as the fire begins to swell
