The Bittersweet Journey of Growing Up:
Longing for Childhood Innocence
I’ve grown so mature, it seems,
Understanding all the world’s themes,
With sensitivity that runs deep,
And wisdom beyond my years to keep.
But sometimes I long to be a child,
To let my worries be free and wild,
And dream of fairytales without restraint,
To live in a world of endless paint.
I want to be that kid again,
Whose world is full of sunshine and zen,
Where everything is new and bright,
And the future is always within sight.
In that world, there are no fears,
No worries, no doubts, no tears,
Just boundless imagination and play,
Where every moment is a new day.
But as I grew and matured in mind,
I learned the truths of life unkind,
Of pain and sorrow, of love and hate,
And the consequences of my every fate.
So now I look back with bittersweet eyes,
At the innocence lost to maturity’s guise,
And wish for a moment to be carefree,
To live in that childlike fantasy.
For in that world of wonder and glee,
I was free to be who I wanted to be,
With no limits or boundaries to hold,
And life was an adventure, a story to be told.
So while I may have grown too fast,
And left that childhood dream in the past,
I hold on to the memories with all my might,
And cherish the moments of pure delight.
For in my heart, that child still lives,
With all the love and joy that life gives,
And I know that no matter where I roam,
I’ll always find my way back home.
