Ten Things Intelligence Is Not
And One Thing It Is
Intelligence is not…
1. Definable in a way agreeable to by all or even most people
2. Quantifiable, perhaps semi-quantifiable though even that is a stretch
3. Measurable, despite what the makers of IQ tests would have you believe. The only thing an IQ test measures is one’s ability to take an IQ test
4. An algorithm or mathematical equation or statistical model. It is not reducible to these things either
5. A computer
6. Found in the brain
7. A product of only the brain
8. A characteristic/trait/ability that only human beings possess. Some non-human animals have intelligence, though no non-living things do.
9. Reducible/expressible in programming language/code or DNA or any other biotic or abiotic molecular signature
10, Artificial
