Poetry about memories

We rode on our bicycles one day

The sun shone brightly

And the skies were so blue

Clouds moved slowly

We stopped to look up at the sky

You told me you were envious of the birds

They could fly up there forever

I just smiled at you and said someday you will

You shook your head and continued on your path

While I followed behind quietly

But that was many years ago

I don’t know if you remember that day

The days we laughed and cried

When we smiled together

I try to laugh while reminiscing

Just like back then

But I can’t.

I end up with tears in my eyes

When I recall the memories of us

They hurt me to my very core

But I’ll try to smile

And laugh for you.
