TAPESTRIES

9/28/2026 130PM

The old man sits with needle and thread

Punctures a hole in time,

and threads another moment

While melancholy sits close by

Like an old friend

but not a friend,

nor an enemy...

But always close.

The old man sprinkles letters on the thread

of the needle pulling it behind

depositing each on a cloth of eternity.

Almost like a trail of crumbs

as if he would forget from whence he's come

but he is not lost nor is what came before.

The trail is long..so long,

The old man has lost sight of where it began.

He looks back...

The thread is lost in a void of darkness

floating in midair, moving as if a guitar player plucks a note from it

and vibrates in harmony with his memories.

The memories that create his tapestry in time

And for just a moment

even melancholy cannot help but smile.

The shadows of his past hold the shades of his youth

The old man smiles too.

Grateful for all the shades he left behind.

Soon, he will be just another shade...

In the shadows

A warm memory

In the tapestry of his child's time.
