surreal poetry
Surrealist poetry embodies the essence of poetry itself, drawing upon shocking imagery and lyrical incongruities to comment on the inner-workings of the mind.
Echoes of Eternity
In the realm of fading stars, I find, Echoes of eternity, in love entwined. A tapestry of memories, woven with care, Whispers of a love, beyond compare. Beneath the moon's gentle gaze we stood, Two souls united, in a world so good. But time's cruel hand did steal away, The warmth of your touch, that fateful day. Echoes of eternity, they call to me, A love once vibrant, now a distant sea. Your laughter, like a melody in the breeze, Bringing solace to my heart's unease. In the garden of love, we once did roam, Hand in hand, our hearts found a home. But petals fell, and seasons changed, Leaving me with memories estranged. The stars above, witnesses of our plight, Glimmer now with a bittersweet light. For in their shine, I see your face, A love so profound, time cannot erase. Echoes of eternity, they softly weep, As I hold onto dreams, so precious and deep. Your eyes, like windows to a universe untold, Now distant memories, forever enfold. A symphony of moments, tender and sweet, Our love's melody, an eternal heartbeat. Yet destiny's winds carried you away, Leaving me yearning, night and day. Echoes of eternity, they paint the skies, With hues of love that never truly dies. Your touch, a lingering warmth on my skin, In the tapestry of time, you live within. As seasons dance, and years unfurl, I cherish the love that once was my world. Though you're gone, your spirit stays, In the echoes of eternity, where love sways. The ocean of time cannot erase, The love we shared, the moments we embrace. In the quiet of night, I hear your voice, A tender whisper, my soul's only choice. Echoes of eternity, a love so pure, In the midst of heartache, a love to endure. I'll hold onto the echoes, forever they'll stay, Guiding me through the night, leading my way. Through the tears and the ache, I find, Strength in the echoes, a love redefined. For even as the stars begin to fade, Our love remains, unbroken, undisplayed. And so I'll walk on, beneath the sky, Where echoes of eternity never truly die. A love story written among the stars, A love that's eternal, no matter how far.

Bonham Lake
Uncle Tony’s truck / backs up next to a ragged picnic table / The rusty tailgate scratches against my sunburnt shoulders / as I slouch / into a faded-blue foldable lawn chair / Wearing swimming shorts and a bikini top that covered my stomach / a flip-flop tan line / arches high on my toes / I get up to grab a hot dog / knowing / grill marks / means it's well done / An ice chest by the grill / two chilled 6-packs not for me / the cooler acting as a seat for my Aunt / holds bottles of juice for the kids / Excuse me Aunt Lisa / politely reach arm deep / ice melted / freezing cold water / pluck out a blue juice / My arm is cold as I pass my younger cousins who argue / But I wanna play with the big water-gun / No, it’s still my turn / Uncles almost step on me as they hoard around grandpa / Jokes of giving him a kiss on the cheek / his face going red / Get gone! I’m not gay! / Everyone laughing in an octave lower / the more comfortable you are with someone / the more comfortable your voice gets in your throat / but I don't speak / I sit in my chair / I think I hate camping / Mama and Sister / also hate camping / zips out of the tent after I fall asleep / So, I'm left tossing and turning over / rocks/ twigs / and beer-bottle caps / sticking through the plastic floor / into the fluff of my sleeping bag.
